PHUKET – A father and Son who arrived at Phuket International Airport last night found themselves arrested immediately over a meal they consumed on the Thai holiday island two years ago.
New Zealand Nationals, Brian Russell Finn and his son Luke Russell Finn were held at a police station in Patong today in advance of a court appearance that could see them fined or jailed.
According to the Phuketwan, the pair ate lunch at the Blue Marine Resort and Spa on September 5, 2013, but left without paying.
On September 27 that year, the police obtained arrest warrants, however by then, the Finns had left Thailand.
Immigration officials noted that both were on the blacklist and held them until officers from Patong arrived to escort them to the police station.
Two years is a long time for the bill to be presented for a meal. In that time, the resort has changed management and is now the Centara Blue Marine Resort and Spa.
The men are likely to face Phuket Provincial Court today.
