Border trade through the port of Chiang Khong reached Bt8 billion last year

CHIANG RAI – The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (I-EA-T) has approved the construction of two new industrial estates in Chiang Rai and Nong Khai Province which are expected to attract 110 billion baht in investment and more than 25,000 jobs.

Permanent Secretary for Industry Withoon Simachokedee, in his capacity as the I-EA-T chairman, said the two new industrial estates would be established in preparation for industrial expansion and increasing trade and investment along the border. The one in Nong Khai will be located in Mueang district near important places such as the Udon Thani International Airport and the Na Tha train station. Its target industries include processed agricultural production, food and drinks, electronic parts, automotive parts and logistics.

As for the Chiang Khong industrial estate, it will be located on an area of 460 Rai in Chiang Khong district, Chiang Rai, near the province’s two airports and the 4th bridge crossing the Mekong river. Targeting the logistics industry, the industrial estate is expected to mainly contain warehouses and product distribution centers.
