New Deli Woman Aizawl Lalchhuanthangi Arrested at Phuket Airport with 4.5 kg of Crystal Meth

PHUKET – A 37-year-old Indian woman, Aizawl Lalchhuanthangi  has been arrested at Thailand’s Phuket International Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle 4.5 kg of illegal drugs worth 15 million baht, into the country.

The Thai Police said custom officials at the airport spotted a large bag while inspecting passengers’ luggage yesterday and arrested the woman, identified as Lalchhuanthangi when she showed up to collect the bag.

During search, customs officials found 4.5 kg of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside the bag, the police said.

Lalchhuanthangi told police that she was paid  paid 100,000 rupees, about 50,000 baht, for transporting the drugs from New to Phuket airport, where the package was to be handed over to another courier.

She was arrested on the charge of smuggling illegal drugs into Thailand for sales and later taken to Tha Chatchai police station of Thalang district in the tourist island resort of Phuket for further questioning.
