CHIANG RAI – Meteorological Department say’s the amount of rainfall in Thailand will begin to decline from tomorrow onwards.

Nevertheless, it advises that flood warnings remain in place for residents of the North and Northeast, as a monsoon trough moves across the upper part of the country.The department has advised fishermen in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to take precautions when leaving port. The southwesterly wind remains strong on both sides of the southern peninsula, and waves could reach a height of 2-3 meters.

However, most of northern Thailand will begin to see a decline in the amount of rain from Wednesday, when the southwesterly wind is expected to weaken. The monsoon trough will also move toward parts of Myanmar and Laos.

Meanwhile, M.L. Panadda Diskul, Permanent Secretary to the Prime Ministers’ Office, is expected to propose to the Cabinet a campaign to establish drinking water donation centers for drought victims in 53 provinces. Similarly, several provinces have launched drinking water distribution centers.

According to M.L. Panadda, if the campaign is approved, then it would accept donations in forms of cash, drinking water, and water purification equipment.

The provinces of Nakhon Phanom, Singburi, Phitsanulok, and Lopburi have erected royally bestowed drinking water distribution centers to relieve drought-affected areas. Those interested can contact their provincial administration offices for more information.
