BANGKOK – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said he was pleased with the latest tourism ranking of Bangkok as top of the world’s most visited cities in 2016.
Bangkok also has the advantage of its geographical location and diversity in tourist destinations, merchandise, food, culture, entertainment and conveniences in transportation, he said.
However, Bangkok will strongly suggest world tourists to stay longer and increase their spending per capita while the Thai capital city is yet to live up to standards of quality for its tourist attractions, services and safety measures, he said.
He added that Thailand hosted the celebrations of “2016 World Tourism Day” which was attended by leading tourism industry operators from 157 countries worldwide during September 26 and 29 in Bangkok and Khon Kaen.
The event was considered a success because all the Thais provided impressive hospitality to the attendees, he said.
