We plan to plant over 1,500 young trees on that day, all of which have been grown in our nursery.

CHIANG MAI – We are pleased to announce that the Himmapaan Foundation’s Tree Planting Day will be held on Saturday, 20 July, 2013. This year, more than 30 species of young indigenous plants will be planted on the Foundation’s forest restoration site. We plan to plant over 1,500 young trees on that day, all of which have been grown in our nursery.

We would like to thank our guests at Lisu Lodge, who took part in our trekking tours, and local people, for helping to collect seeds in the forest for our nursery. Most of the young trees coming from our nursery have flourished since being planted on our site at Ban Lai Na Village in Chiang Mai province, in northern Thailand.

The Himmapaan Foundation is a network of organizations, individuals and companies in the travel-related industry working together to support sustainable tourism in areas of Thailand where tourism has had a negative impact on both the environment and local traditions. The Foundation is currently engaged in restoring areas of forests that have been damaged or destroyed, in Chiang Mai Province. We are doing this in co-operation with the local communities. We believe their participation is essential, especially as it helps foster their understanding of the need to conserve the environment, as well as a sense of ownership of their beautiful surroundings. That is why we also encourage them to take part in this activity.

You are invited to join us in this special event. If you have participated in our planting day previously, it will be a good opportunity to revisit the site to see how your trees have grown.

We provide free lunch and transportation between Chiang Mai city and the reforestation site.

Date of Event: 20 July, 2013
Departure Time: 7 a.m.
Meeting point: Lisu Lodge office, Night Bazaar, Chiang Mai
