500 blankets to elderly people in Chiang Rai Province

CHIANG RAI – The Interior Ministry has given out 500 blankets to elderly people in Chiang Rai Province as winter is approaching.

Deputy Interior Minister Visarn Techateerawat, along with his team, went to Chiang Rai’s Mae Lao District where the deputy minister chaired the opening ceremony of the renowned Long Boat Racing Festival. Later on, Mr. Visarn proceeded to Phan District to meet with the elderly whom he handed 500 blankets to in a bid to keep them warm in cold weather as winter is closing in.

As for Si Sa Ket Province, people are flocking to second-hand clothing markets to buy winter clothes such as sweaters, jackets, scarves, and gloves. Second-hand clothes are proved more popular than brand new ones because they are still in good condition, whereas the prices are way cheaper.

Meanwhile, 200 people in Nan Province have already fallen ill as their bodies could not adjust to the rapid change of weather. Most of the patients were elderly, children, and those people with congenital diseases.
