Gold Shop in Mae Fah Luang Robbed, Shop Owner Stabbed by Thief

CHIANG RAI – Mae Fah Luang Police Station received a call that there had been a violent robbery at a local gold shop in front of Mae Fah Luang University, during which gold dealer Patchaporn Kankam, 43, was stabbed by an unknown assailant.

Police arrived to find the gold shop owner had been stabbed in the left side of her stomach after challenging the thief. She was sent to Chiangrai Prachanukroh hospital. The police have described her attacker as male, around 40 years old, with an approximate height of 170 cm. He got away with three gold necklaces worth a total of 45,000 baht and fled before the police arrived at the scene. The surveillance camera did not capture any clear evidence.

Chamaiporn Putjit, 19, an employee at the store, explained that the robber had a knife that was over 20cm in length. He was wearing a white helmet, black shirt and white pants. He restrained the staff on entering the shop before grabbing the necklaces from the corner and making his getaway.- City News
