BANGKOK- Goal Magazine’s website has reported that former Chelsea and Portsmouth manager Avram Grant, who was in Thailand recently for vacation and found the time to meet up with his agent, has stated his desier to work in the country.

“I come to Thailand quite often, almost every year,” he told Goal Thailand.

“I got non-football related friends here, good friends. I like this country. It’s a friendly place.”

Grant who was last in charge at Partizan Belgrade in 2012, following stints in the Premier League with Chelsea, Portsmouth and West Ham, the latter two both ending in relegation from the Premier League, noted the vacancy in the Thai national team coaching position.

“As I said it’s a vacation trip, but I just heard that Thailand still don’t have a long-term Head Coach,” he said.

“Nothing has been discussed at the moment, but if there’s any offer, I’m interested. For club jobs? I don’t think about it yet.

“Asian football’s surely on the right track. You can see their players are now respected in Europe. Asian players are high on technique. Everyone seems so obsessed with football, which will lead to more good players being produced.”

Thailand have yet to appoint a permanent Head Coach, and former international Surachai Jaturapattarapong was appointed on an interim basis following Winfried Schafer’s departure.
