CHIANG RAI- Despite flood waters receding, the Mae Sai and Chiang Saen district municipalities have yet to remove flood walls, warning the locals to stay vigilant.

Continued rainfall and high water levels on the Mekong and Sai River have prompted fears of more flash floods.

The embankment of the Mekong River in Chiang Saen district is being continually eroded by strong currents in the river. The water has frequently overflowed into farmlands despite a decline in water levels in some places.

Floods inundated roads and 300 homes in Chiang Rai Mae Fah Luang district, forcing Mae Fah Luang university to evacuate its students from its dormitory.
