CHIANG RAI – District police in Mae Suai have arrested two men and detained a 16 year old boy after stopping their Toyota Fortuner SUV for a search at Tha Ko checkpoint.

Authorities said when searching the vehicle they noticed two spare tires that were unusually large, upon cutting them open the found 260,000 methamphetamine pills hidden inside.

The two men Apisit Ailuang, 23, Prathin La-nod, 22, were arrested and four mobile phones and a bank account book was seized. The 16-year-old boy was held for further questioning.  The suspects said the drugs were destined for a client in Chiang Mai, according to police.

In Chiang Mai, San Sai district police searched an Isuzu pick-up truck parked on a roadside and found 10,000 speed pills on the back seat. A man in the vehicle, identified only as Monthan, was arrested.
