Chiang Rai to Build World’s Tallest Flag Pole

CHIANG RAI -Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Akham Sukphan of Chiang Rai will next week officially inaugurate the project to build the world’s tallest flag pole.
Once completed next year, the pole would be the tallest in the world with 189 meters in height. The world’s tallest pole – with 171 meters in height, is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The “Thailand World Tallest Flag Pole” project is initiated by people of Chiang Rai, to commemorate the first centennial anniversary of Thailand’s national flag as well as to create a new tourist attraction in the province which is part of the Golden Triangle. Aside from the pole, the location will house a national flag museum.
