Chiang Rai Officials Launch Cycling Campaign to Promote Health and Wellness

 

 

CHIANG RAI -In an aim to promote local tourism and to encourage residents to develop a healthy lifestyle a cycling campaign is being promoted in Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai City Mayor Wanchai Chongsuthamanee said the campaign is a joint effort between Nakhon Chiang Rai Municipality Office, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the public and private agencies.

Under the campaign, local residents will be encouraged to use bicycles as a means of transport in their daily lives.

Mayor Wanchai Chongsuthamanee also said the campaign is also in line with the government’s public health promotion policy.

New health care measures and public facilities will also be developed in parallel with the campaign to reinforce health and wellness, and to allow residents and tourists to have a pleasant cycling experience.

The idea was motivated by the need to promote ecotourism and raise household incomes for local residents in Chiang Rai.
