CHON BURI – Chonburi Immigration Police, based in Jomtien, announced the arrest of a 61 year old Expat from Chiang Rai accused of selling class 1 drugs in Pattaya.

Pattaya One News has reported Mr. Atef Zakaria Ibrahim Elghonemi was arrested at the Big C Supercenter Car Park in South Pattaya following a tip-off to Police that the suspect was due to sell drugs there on Thursday Night.

Initially Mr. Elghonemi attempted to escape when he saw Police and also attempted to discard the illegal drugs, both without success. Police found 10g of Crystal Meth, 7 Yabba Tablets and 1,160 Baht in cash.

When questioned at the Immigration Office, he confirmed to Investigators that he had resided in Thailand for more than 10 years and claimed he was selling drugs to his Egyptian friends and to Bar Girls as he had no other income stream and needed the money from selling drugs to support his family who live in Chiang Rai Province.

Mr. Elghonemi was charged with possession with intent to supply class 1 drugs and was transferred to Pattaya Police Station for processing.
