CHIANG RAI – As the heat wave continues to simmer in Chiang Rai Province, elephants at Ban Karieng Ruammit, or Karen village, have been led into the river to cool down during off-hours as the elephant farm continues to welcome tourists and offer elephant rides.
Elephant handlers have said that the hot weather conditions have made elephants irritable and the animals are therefore allowed to remain along the Kok River to cool down.
During midday, handlers have had to refrain from giving elephant rides as tourists instead were able to admire the elephants as they bathe and play with each other in the water.
