CHIANG MAI – Police and Army troop reinforcements have been deployed at popular tourist spots in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai Provinces to provide protection to Chinese tourists as they flocked into the two northern provinces during their long holidays to mark the Chinese national day Thursday.

The night bazaar, a popular night shopping street, was on Wednesday night crowded with tourists with police and troops on foot patrol among them.

At Wat Rong Khun in Phan Chiang Rai, another popular tourist destination for Chinese tourists, over 100 police and temple officials were on hand to provide convenience to tourists and to ensure order.
