Police have detained a Chinese tourist in northern Thailand who allegedly crashed his car into two motorcycles and killed a 41-year-old woman.

 

CHIANG RAI – Pol Lt Col Passakorn Sukha, an investigator of Mueang Chiang Rai police station has reported a Thai woman was killed at noon Sunday after her motorcycle was hit by a speeding car driven by a Chinese tourist.

Pol Lt Col Passakorn Sukha reported that the accident happened on Terng-Chiang Rai Road in Jambon village in Tambon Doilarn in Mueang Chiang Rai district shortly before 12:30 pm.

Authorities arrived at the scene with a triage doctor and found that Ms.Kanokporn Khamnoi, 41, a resident of the Mueang district, had already died, her red Honda motorcycle was found nearby.

About 20 meters away from the body of Kanokporn, police found Payuha Nilpho, 30, beside his Kawasaki motorcycle that was completely destroyed, fortunately he was uninjured.

Police also found a black Mitsubishi sedan car with Chinese license plate driven by Choen Yung Jun, who was waiting to surrender to police.

Eyewitnesses told police that after the Chinese car hit the first motorcycle, it was served and crossed to the other side of the road and hit Kanokporn’s Honda motorcycle.

The Chinese driver Choen Yung Jun was taken to the Mueang police station for legal action.

Ms Kanokporn Khamnoi worked at the Chiang Rai Hospital.
