Australian Paraded before the Media in Pattaya over Drug Possession
PATTAYA – Australian expat David Vreeken has been arrested in Pattaya City after police found crystal methamphetamine and marijuana in his Pattaya apartment.
David Andrew Vreeken, 49, was apprehended in his Soi Khopai, Police recovered 4 g. of marijuana from his refrigerator and 4.5 g. of crystal meth from behind it, along with drug paraphernalia.
Vreeken refused to admit he owned the drugs, claiming that a friend had brought drugs into his room. But he admitted using the narcotics during sessions with local women.
Vreeken faces charges of possession with intent to sell Class 1 and Class 5 narcotics.
Meanwhile, A 73-year-old Chinese tourist drowned off Tawaen beach on Koh Larn island Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Zhenlong Ling had gone to the island with a tour group which included his wife and son, who witnessed Mr. Ling go under the water. He was removed from the water and CPR was administered but Mr. Ling could not be revived.
This was at least the second time in the past few months that a Chinese tourist drowned on the popular tourist island, four kilometers off the coast of Pattaya. Less than three weeks ago another elderly tourist, also from mainland China, had “suddenly collapsed” and drowned on the same beach.
