3.6 Magnitude Quake Shakes Mae Lao Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI – The Seismology Office of the Meteorological Department has reported an earthquake registering 3.6 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Chiang Rai’s Mae Lao district shortly before 3pm Monday, causing no damage.

The epicenter of the quake was miles underground in Mae Lao district and could be felt throughout Chiang Rai Province.

Chiang Rai’s chief of disaster prevention and mitigation Sawang Momdee, said he had ordered nearby districts to examine whether the temblor had caused any damage and report to his office so that action could be taken immediately to help affected people.
