YouTube Music

(CTN News) – In order to introduce podcasts to YouTube Music, Google is delivering on its promise.

Google recently released a support page in which it stated that users would not require a paid YouTube Music subscription to listen to podcasts on-demand, offline, or in the background or to cast them to other devices like Bluetooth speakers.

YouTube Music also allow users to switch between podcasts in audio and visual formats

From the Home tab in the YouTube Music app, you can access podcast suggestions and incomplete episodes. Additionally, you can filter results by tapping the Podcasts tab at the top.

Back in February, Google announced the addition of podcasts to the streaming service on YouTube.

With the integration, the application should be able to more effectively compete with similar services like Spotify, which recently revealed that it currently has 515 million listeners, of which 210 million are paying subscribers.

YouTube Music Podcasts Are Free With No Paid Services

When I last checked (in November), YouTube reported having 80 million Music and Premium subscribers worldwide, though that number included people who were actively using trial accounts.

The separate subscription service YouTube Premium, initially known as Music Key before changing its name to YouTube Red and finally Premium provides ad-free access to YouTube content.

Given that Google already offers a podcast app and that YouTube itself supports podcasts, adding podcasts to YouTube Music may seem a bit out of the ordinary.

The change might be a step towards streamlining some of its services, or it can be just the reverse. After all, Google has a history of having disjointed product lines.

If you have not yet noticed it, please wait; the rollout is now underway for listeners in the US.

Google did not provide any specifics other than to say that people in additional locations would ultimately be able to access podcasts through YouTube Music.

To ensure that podcast content producers make the most of the new integration, Google has also produced a support manual for them.
