Gen. Amornrit Phaetcharoen and advisor to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) presided over the ceremony to validate the world’s largest Thai national flag by Guinness World Records.

Dignitaries from Thailand and neighboring countries presided over the inauguration ceremony along with 32 monks and over a thousand spectators. Attendees observed a moment of silence for the passing of His late Majesty before singing the national anthem together.

Three cranes were used to raise the flag to the mast before it was hoisted to the top of the flag pole.

The flag measured 34 meters in width and 63 meters in length, and was produced to commemorate the first centennial anniversary of Thailand’s national flag, as well as to create a new tourist attraction in the province, which is part of the Golden Triangle.

The location will house a national flag museum that will provide knowledge on the history of the Thai national flag in the future.
