PHUKET – Two men held responsible for the killing of 24 year old French tourist Akim Boukstbbouma, during an altercation in Soi Sansabai on March 23 have both been were charged with murder, police announced Friday.

Somporn Kakkaew, 33, and Somkit Lemut, 30, were presented to the media at the news conference held at Phuket Provincial Police Station this morning, along with items seized from them by the police, including the knife used in the attack and the clothing they wore during the incident.

According to the Phuket News the two were arrested on a warrant issued by Phuket Court on Wednesday and along with being charged with murder, they have also been charged with attempted murder and carrying weapons into a public place without a permit.

The incident on Wednesday occurred after Mr Somporn allegedly rode his motorcycle into the 24-year-old Frenchman Akim Boukheddouma and his Moroccan friend, Said Missoury, 23.

Police said Mr Somporn confessed that after he got off from work, he got into altercation with the two tourists and the fight broke out between them. Upon seeing the fight going on, his coworker, Mr Somkit, joined him but Mr Somporn decided to use his knife to stab the tourists.
