CHIANG RAI – Thailand on Monday hosted the 20th Thai-Lao Joint Commission in Chiang Rai Province. Thailand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai, and Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith agreed on the establishment of the Thai-Lao social development center at Phonhong in Vientiane to rehabilitate human trafficking victims in Laos.

Thailand will provide support for the construction of the center’s building and personnel development for the prevention of and solutions to human trafficking in the two countries as well as other countries in the region.

The two parties also agreed to organize the Thai-Laos-Vietnamese meeting this year on a public bus project which will connect the three countries. As for cooperation in other fields, Thailand and Laos expressed readiness to sign an agreement on security in Thai-Lao border zones.

The agreement is expected to ensure peace and order in the areas for peace of both Thai and Lao people.
