PATTAYA – A Thai couple and an accomplice have been arrested after allegedly breaking into an Irishman’s luxury home in Pattaya, Thailand and stealing Bt462,000 (€13,000).
The thieves targeted the lavish home of Christopher Knight, 69, in the plush Lakeview Exclusive Villa in Soi Praphanimit in Pattaya, Saturday.
Rachot Khumsat, 37, his wife Napaporn Pradab, 27, and Wasant Panprem, 28, were arrested at the house of Ms Napaporn yesterday, seizing gold necklaces, gold rings, gold bracelets and 56,760 Thai baht
Police believe the suspects entered Mr Knight’s house through an unlocked door before locating a safe, breaking it open and taking the large sum of cash.
Cops believe they also destroyed a security alarm and a computer server controlling security cameras at the house before throwing them in a pool in an effort to hide the evidence.
Mr Knight, a pensioner, reportedly found his home ransacked and immediately contacted police.
