BANGKOK – Australian Expat Stephen Kim Le Cornu, 62, was arrested at his home in Bang Kapi, Bangkok for allegedly posting online messages deemed to involve the sexual exploitation of minors.

Police in Bangkok reported that a warrant was obtained and the raid carried out at 6am Tuesday by a 30-strong team of Thai and Australian police and related agencies following an initial probe that found the illegal posts came from a house occupied by Mr. Stephen Kim Le Cornu, 62, who has resided in Thailand for more than 10 years.

After a four-hour search no evidence was found linking him to alleged child molestation. However police told Thai media that he confessed to posting the messages so he was charged with possession of child pornography – punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to Bt100,000 – and violating the Computer Crime Act.
