CHIANG RAI – Holiday time is giving time, along with eating and drinking and spending time with family and friends.  Did you know that giving is also an aspect of spiritual health?  It’s all about an exchange of energy, and the action of giving can help you when you feel stuck in life.

Tania Ho, founder and owner of Museflower Retreat & Spa Chiang Rai, is a trained holistic healer who knows about howvarious types of energy affects us.  Here, we asked Tania how the act of giving is related to energy and in turn related to our spiritual health.

What does it mean when our energy is “stuck” or feel “stuck” in life?

When we feel “stuck” in life, we may feel like we want to move forward in life but we are held back by some fears or worries. Or perhaps we want to move forward, change our life, but don’t know what the next step would be, and so we’d rather stay in the same place. We may start to feel bored, frustrated, angry, or hopeless.

How do you recognize if you are stuck?

Tune in with your feelings and emotions and reflect on the below questions:

  • Am I 100% happy in my life right now? If not, what is holding me back?
  • Am I living the life that I want right now? If the answer is no, why not, and how can I resolve that?

What can we do to get out of this feeling of being stuck?

The answer differs for each person. It’s best to start by looking within ourselves.

First, it is to identify the reason for being stuck. Is there a fear that is holding you back? Is it the fear of failure? Is it the fear of security and money? Is it the fear of letting go of control?

Once we can identify what the fear is, there are several holistic therapies that can help such as Bars – Access Consciousness and Fast Track Technique that work with clearing our limiting beliefs that are holding us back.

Self-help advice often says that one way to change your energy is to start giving to other people.  How does giving help us?

When we give, we focus our energy on the other person instead of fixating in a certain victim mentality that we trap ourselves in. When we focus outside ourselves, we no longer focus on worrying about our own problems and dramas, even though the problems may still be there.

When we shift our perspective from a place of fear and worry to a place of love and joy through giving, our energy changes. We also become more grateful for what we have. So then when we come back to face our problems again, we might be able tolook at it with a new perspective or see an alternative solution.

Museflower Retreat is organizing a clothing drive to donate clothes to the hilltribes for the holidays.  What inspired this activity?

My mother is a big inspiration for me.  My mom founded a charity foundation called Community Partner Foundation (CPF) after my dad passed away.  Because my father had suffered from emotional health issues, this charity foundation supports in services that are related to emotional and mental health, such as providing counseling services for high school students, sponsoring holistic therapy workshops in the University so more people can learn more about the importance of emotional and mental health.

My mom also loves buying gifts for other people. She loves buying and sharing things that she enjoys with other people, this is her way to show her care and love to others. I can see that it brings her a lot of joy through giving and she is always so generous.

Her generosity and spirit in giving and sharing are inspiring to me. No matter how rich or how poor we are, there’s always a way that we can give back to society. It’s just a cycle of giving and receiving, like in nature. When we die, the only thing left of us in the world is the legacy we leave behind. Do we want to contribute more love or more fear into the current world?

From now through January 15, 2017, Museflower Retreat & Spa Chiang Rai is organizing a clothing donation and is inviting all staff and guests to donate usable clothes which will be given to a needy hill tribe village.  All staff and guests are invited to donate any usable clothes to the hill tribe villages in Chiang Rai.  In January, Museflower Retreat’s management and staff will go visit the recipient village to donate the clothes together.  Guests who are interested may also be invited to join the event.

“It was a spontaneous idea,” says Tania.  “Every season I always go through my own closet, and donate the clothes that I don’t wear anymore. So this winter I thought, why not invite other people to gather more clothes so our little community can make a group effort and we can all donate together.”
