BANGKOK – The mass rally to be staged by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) on the Aksa road in Bangkok’s suburbs this Saturday and Sunday is just a “final exercise before the big war” after Songkran festival, said Jatuporn Promphan on Wednesday.

“Our aim is to send a message to those who want to seize the power from the people that they have no chance of success,” said Jatuporn as he urged red-shirt followers to have trust in their leaders.

He claimed that there were more people this year who were frustrated than those in 2010 because they wanted an election but their wish was shattered by just a handful of people and, worse, the election was declared null and void by the Constitutional Court.

Even if the protest site is close to the residence of protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, Jatuporn assured that red-shirt followers would not go near the house to avoid possible confrontation.

He also warned anti-government protesters not to interfere with the UDD’s rally.
