Police Believe Human Remains Found on Koh Chang are of Missing Briton Paul Clive Hamilton-Ritchie

TRAT – A Koh Chang Rescue Crew has discovered the remains of a human skull and bones on Koh Chang on Saturday evening that police believe to be that of Paul Clive Hamilton-Ritchie.

Police further reported that the discovered remains were found in a forested area of tambon Bang Bao on the south part of the island, a nylon rope was found at the scene, tied around a tree branch with one end of the rope made into a loop.

Paul has disappeared and had not been seen or heard from since October 2012.

A bag was found nearby the remains that contained a passport identifying its holder as Paul Clive Hamilton-Ritchie, 34, a British national.

Police believed the remains of the deceased man had been in the forest for several months and have now been collected and sent for forensic examination in Bangkok.

Almost a year ago Paul went missing in Koh Chang and there had been few leads as to anything about his disappearance. He had been out of contact since October 2012.

Paul Clive Hamilton-Ritchie had a degree in business spoke English, German, Spanish and French and his last job was actually with the French Foreign Legion.

His family launched a website www.helpfindpaul.com in hopes of finding their son Paul. They are looking for any leads, any information, anything that may help them and find out what happened to him.

Pol Lt Col Seksan Chindaphan said the details of the man match the description of Paul given in a report filed late last year.

Police have stated they have launched an investigating into the incident, however without any real evidence of foul play and no real details of why or how Paul disappeared the Police will treat this case like many others cases involving foreigners, a suicide.
