Poker hands ranking

In poker, the term “hand” refers to a player’s set of cards. The ranking of hands determines the winner in most Poker variations. Here are the different hands in Poker, listed from highest to lowest:

  1. Royal Flush: This is the best possible hand in Poker. It consists of the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten, all of the same suit (e.g., Ace of Spades, King of Spades, etc.).
  2. Straight Flush: This hand is any sequence of five cards in a row, all of the same suit. For example – Six, Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten of Hearts.
  3. Four of a Kind: This hand contains four cards of the same rank, accompanied by any fifth card. For instance, four Aces and a random card.
  4. Full House: A full house consists of three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank. For example, three Kings and two Jacks.
  5. Flush: A flush is any five cards of the same suit, not in sequence. The rank of the cards determines the winner in case of a tie – the higher rank wins.
  6. Straight: A straight is a sequence of five cards in a row, regardless of their suit. For instance, Four, Five, Six, Seven and Eight of various suits.
  7. Three of a Kind: This hand contains three cards of the same rank, accompanied by two unrelated cards. For example, three Queens and two random cards.
  8. Two Pair: Two pair consists of two cards of the same rank, another two cards of a different rank, and one unrelated card. For instance, two Tens, two Fives, and an extra card.
  9. One Pair: This hand contains two cards of the same rank, accompanied by three unrelated cards. For example, two Jacks and three random cards.
  10. High Card: If none of the above hands have been formed, the highest card in a player’s hand determines the winner. If players have the same high card, the next highest card is used for comparison, and so on.

It’s important to note that the ranking of hands may vary slightly depending on the Poker variation being played. Additionally, some variations may include additional hands or have different rules for hand rankings. Therefore, it’s always best to read the terms and conditions of any Poker game you’re about to play online.

So, now you know the hands of Poker in rank order, will you be holding a hand in Poker any time soon?
