According to officials, the baby leatherback turtle was spotted climbing out of its nest at 6.20am. It was then taken to a nursery to be nurtured, before being released into the sea.
leatherback turtles are among the rarest animals in Thai seas. None have been found alive during the last 5-6 years. Only their bodies with marine waste inside were found.
In Khao Lak, the event also hosted a range of activities and held an Expo which featured a travelling Tour de France museum to welcome and encourage newcomers to the event and budding cyclists to get involved.
