PGA Golfer Hisayuki Sasaki Found Dead in Bangkok Hotel Room

Sasaki has won three tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour and featured in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings

 

BANGKOK – Hisayuki Sasaki, a 48-year-old with three career Japan Golf Tour victories, was found dead, it was learned Friday. Sasaki’s family made the announcement after the Tokyo native was discovered dead in his Bangkok hotel room on Thursday morning after a friend went up to check on him.

Sasaki was confirmed dead at a nearby hospital. The cause of death is believed to be cardiac arrest. Sasaki, who turned professional in 1986, had been in Thailand since late last year. The family is in the process of making funeral arrangements.

Sasaki has won three tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour and featured in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Sasaki played on the PGA Tour in 1996 but with only three top-25 finishes he failed to maintain his playing rights. He finished third in the 1997 Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf.
