In Nuggets vs. Lakers Sweep, Nikola Jokic Records Triple-Double

(CTN News) – With Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, the Denver Nuggets are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time in the franchise’s history.

Having averaged 27 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 11.3 assists for the Western Conference finals, Jokic was named the MVP of the series (now known as the Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson award) after he averaged 27 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 11.3 assists.

Based on Nuggets CBS Sports research, here are a few playoff triple-double statistics for you to consider:

  • On Monday, Jokic finished with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists in the clincher of the series. There is one more series left for him to get his eighth triple-double of the playoffs, which is the most in a single postseason in NBA history.

  • As a result of these playoffs, Jokic averages 29.9 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 10.3 assists per game. As a result of his triple-double average through the first 15 games of a postseason, he became the first player in history to achieve the feat.

  • Jokic will become the first player to Nuggets average a triple-double through 16 games as long as he scores at least six assists in Game 1 of the Finals.

  • Against the Lakers, Jokic recorded an average of 27.8 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists, making him the first player in history to average a triple-double in a first-round sweep of a best-of-7 series.

  • During the second round against the Suns, Jokic scored 34.5 points to go along with 13.2 rebounds and 10.3 assists, giving him two of the five highest scoring averages among all players who have averaged a triple-double over the course of a complete playoff series.

Despite the fact that Jamal Murray shot 52.7 percent, he had a shooting Nuggets split of 40.5 percent, 95.0 percent, and 50.8 percent against the Lakers.

A player has never shot 50-40-90 in a best-of-7 series sweep before in the history of the game, and this is the first time.

As long as the Jokic-Murray duo is performing at such a historic level, it is hard for anyone to beat the Nuggets. Only one more team will be able to defeat Denver before the season is over.

It is likely that the Miami Heat will be the one to pull it off, as they are on the verge of sweeping the Celtics with Game 4 set for Tuesday.

Who wins Lakers or Nuggets?

The top-seeded Nuggets eliminated the seventh-seeded Lakers with a 113-111 victory in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals Monday and made franchise history.
