Police said they found the woman asleep at her home, with several body parts apparently from children near her

Chiangrai Times – A woman has been arrested for allegedly killing and possibly eating her two children, reports said. Police on Monday told reporters that last week they received a complaint that a Musur woman butchered her two sons, age 1 and 5, in Mae Ai district of ChiangMai.

According to several reports and social media posts, the woman then cooked and ate her own children.

Police said they found the woman asleep at her home, with several body parts apparently from children near her.

They took her in for questioning, but the woman did not respond to any of their questions.

They did a background check on the woman and found that she had been treated for a mental illness in 2007.

The name of the woman was not revealed.

Her husband said she stopped taking her medication a month or two ago, according to the reports.

Before the reported outrage, she was fine, her husband insisted.

“I had to go out of town for a couple of days. I told her that I would bring back the medication she needs. I never imagined that something like this would happen,” he added.

While many reports and rumours claimed the woman ate her children, Police said they had found no evidence to back up the claim.

Police said a hospital report said the woman suffered from hallucinations that somebody was coming to hurt her.

Police urged people to have sympathy for the woman and not to spread false rumours about her.

She has been charged with murder, but being deemed mentally unfit to fight her case she has been sent to Suan Prung Hospital for treatment.
