NFL Scores, Highlights and Updates for Week 15
The 2021 NFL season is in its 15th week, and we’ll keep you informed on all the action and biggest stories as they happen. Week 15 has some great matchups and storylines, and we’re here to help you follow them. Stay tuned for updates.
The Broncos are on top!
The Broncos also completed their drive that their starting quarterback started with a contested 25-yard touchdown catch from Tim Patrick not long after Teddy Bridgewater was carted off with a head injury. Denver took its first lead nearly three quarters into the game.
The connection was unstoppable.
The combination of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in the past SIX seasons has made the Packers virtually unstoppable. Adams’ 66th receiving touchdown in the NFL since 2016 came on a 3-yard reception at the end of the first half against the Ravens.
Andrews is unstoppable.
While few people thought the Ravens would be able to defeat the Packers without Lamar Jackson and almost their entire secondary, Tyler Huntley and the defence are giving Green Bay all it can handle. How is this possible? Unlike its opponent, Baltimore has Mark Andrews. The Ravens team, which entered the intermission tied at 14, gained 95 yards on six receptions and two touchdowns from him in the first half alone.
I told you ‘you got Moss’d!’
People like to say “You got Moss’d!” but this play definitely warranted that designation. Ambry Thomas couldn’t stop Russell Gage as he shot right over the top for the touchdown. Although Thomas was called for defensive holding, Gage made an incredible catch to tie the game.
JUSZCZYK
No, those aren’t just a bunch of random letters thrown together. This is fullback Kyle Juszczyk, whose nimble feet guided him to the goal line from six yards away. San Francisco is not worried about Elijah Mitchell missing the game.
A fumble on the opening kickoff!
In addition to scoring a touchdown on the opening kickoff, the Falcons had a great start against the 49ers. Qadree Ollison threw the ball out and Richie Grant recovered it, which put Atlanta in the red zone after JaMycal Hasty got to about the 16-yard line. Hasty’s luck turned when the Falcons were turned over on downs by the San Francisco defence.
The Titans were stuffed!
Pittsburgh refused to lose. The Steelers, despite winning just one of their previous five games entering Sunday, came back from a 13-3 halftime deficit — their fourth straight game in which they failed to score a touchdown in the first half — to defeat the Titans in a thrilling game. The Steelers remain in the race for the AFC North title while Tennessee falls to 9-5 after losing by about a millimetre.
2 Cooks.
It was believed that firing Urban Meyer would improve the Jaguars’ fortunes. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case Sunday afternoon. After an early touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks, the Texans controlled the game, and Cooks completed the win with a 43-yard touchdown.
Talib earned his redemption.
The Jets tied things up in the fourth quarter thanks to Tua Tagovailoa, but the Dolphins went ahead after him as well. A nine-play, 75-yard drive capped by his 11-yard strike to DeVante Parker gave Miami a 31-24 lead with less than four minutes left.
Tua picked off Parker on the 6-yard line.
Tua Tagovailoa has flirted with danger for most of the afternoon, resulting in two interceptions. The second was particularly back-breaking, as Brandin Echols caught the pick and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. On the ensuing extra point, the Jets tied it up.
The D-lineman caught a touchdown pass!
The defensive end Christian Wilkins doesn’t just stuff the run and pressure the quarterback. As a fullback, he ran to the left, turned and caught a wide-open one-yard touchdown pass to put the Dolphins ahead.
Unexpected turnover.
Racey McMath caught a pass from the Titans, was cut down, and then regained his footing after the ball flew out of his hands. The ball was caught by Joe Haden before it hit the ground, and the fumble ruled a turnover, giving the Steelers plus territory.
Big Ben’s sneak touchdown!
Roethlisberger crossed the goal line for his first rushing touchdown since 2018 on a day where he passed Philip Rivers for fifth all-time on the NFL’s career passing list!
LIONSHIP!
We’re not even getting upset alerts at this point. It’s nothing more than a drubbing for the 1-11-1 Lions (yes, you read that right). Murray threw an interception to diving Amani Oruwariye to set up Detroit’s latest touchdown. The Lions took a 24-3 lead when Oruwariye returned the ball all the way down to the Cardinals’ 6-yard line, and Jared Goff then threw his third touchdown pass of the day (this time to Jason Cabinda).
New York infamous trick play.
As of now, the Jets offence is wild and it’s working against the Dolphins. Jamison Crowder caught the ball on a hook route and literally THREW IT ACROSS THE FIELD to Braxton Berrios for a 22-yard pick-up. Although New York did not score, New York, entered halftime with a 17-10 lead. Mike LaFleur, keep it up.
Great interception!
Jeremy Chinn gave the Panthers a spark they desperately needed. During the interception, the second-year safety did his best Megatron impression (h/t Calvin Johnson) by jumping, twisting and snatching the ball out of the air. Just before halftime, Carolina cut its deficit to 14-8 with a touchdown and two-point conversion.
Great pass by the Jets!
It wasn’t pretty, but it worked for Zach Wilson, who, after breaking two tackles and running to the middle of the field, somehow found an open Ryan Griffin for 23 yards. As a result of the drive, New York took a 17-7 lead over Miami.
The Cards fell behind 10-0.
Yes, that’s right. A team with an NFL best 10-3 record trails by double digits in the first quarter…to Detroit. While Arizona also controlled the ball for just 2 minutes, 28 seconds in the first quarter, its defence allowed Detroit to score an opening drive field goal before Jared Goff connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 37-yard touchdown kick return TD!
With an opening drive field goal, the Jaguars gained some momentum but lost it when Tremon Smith scored a 98-yard kick return touchdown. After 15 weeks, you’d think Jacksonville would have figured out how to tackle, but that wasn’t the case on this play, as Smith bounced off multiple opponents before streaking to the end zone.
A beautiful punt return.
Above all, without Derrick Henry, the Titans offence is nothing like it used to be, so the team could use some big special teams and defensive plays against the Steelers. Even more, Tennessee’s first touchdown was set up by Chester Rosters’ 55-yard punt return.
Houston Cooks scored the touchdown early.
The Jaguars also made headlines this week after firing head coach Urban Meyer, but it was the Texans who struck first with Brandin Cooks catching a 22-yard touchdown pass from Davis Mills.
The Jets score first.
The 3-10 Jets, who closed as 10-point underdogs against the Dolphins, scored the first touchdown of the day. New York forced Miami into a three-and-out, then marched 83 yards on 10 plays, ending the impressive drive with Braxton Berrios taking the jet pitch and scampering two yards around the right end and into the end zone.
Strike back, Bengals!
Even more, Between the Bengals and Broncos, no touchdowns were scored during the first 43 minutes. The Bengals scored two touchdowns in 45 seconds following Denver’s score thanks to Joe Burrow’s pass down the seam, Tyler Boyd’s juke around a defensive back followed by Boyd outrunning two defenders for the 56-yard touchdown.
Blowouts or upsets? The Sunday slate is dominated by large spreads
It’s also an NFL adage that any team can beat any other team on any given week, but that will be put to the test on Sunday. At the time of writing, five of the 10 games have double-digit spreads and seven teams are favoured by more than one touchdown. The Bengals and Titans are the only teams with one-possession point spreads.
Furthermore, Buffalo, which opened as a nine-point favourite against the Carolina Panthers but increased to two touchdowns by halftime, has the biggest favourite on Sunday. Despite Buffalo closing as a 15.5-point favourite against the Jaguars six weeks ago, they suffered a 9-6 loss in the seventh-largest upset since 1990. Let’s hope the Week 15 slate brings more big upsets!
