New Road Link Project to Mae Fah Luang Airport to be Completed 2015

CHIANG RAI – The Department of Rural Roads has launched a project to build a Western Ring Road expressway in Chiang Rai to allow easier access to the Mae Fah Luang Airport in the province.

According to Rural Roads Department Director-General Chatchai Thipsunawee, the project will be divided into two parts – road section and the underpass. The road section involves an expansion of Wiang Burapha Road right in front of the Chiang Rai Provincial

Administrative Organization to the airport after which a new road will be built to the North traversing Ban Pa Kuk and Ban Pa Ha areas before merging with Highway 1209 at 833 meters of the Kilometer Marker No. 2.

The underpass will be built from the road section with Kilometer Marker No. 3 352 to the entrance of the Mae Fah Luang Airport.

The entire project covers a total distance of 9.2 kilometers and requires a budget of about 734 million baht. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2015.
