Missing Persons Alert for US Citizen Brent Bean
PHUKET – Flyers are being distributed on Phuket in an urgent appeal for information about missing American surfer Brett Bean.
His parents in California are growing increasingly concerned as Mr Bean, 43, missed booked flights last week from Phuket to Bangkok, from Bangkok to Hong Kong and from Hong Kong to Los Angeles.
The flyer contains the photograph above and describes Brett Chapman Bean as having blond hair, blue eyes and fair skin. He is 6 feet 2 in and could be bearded or clean-shaven.
He is believed to have been living in the Kata-Karon area, and enjoyed surfing and swimmng. His father Wayne says he would carry his board around on a motorcycle.
”He was also an animal lover,” says his mother Lynne. ”He fed the homeless dogs on a regular basis.
”We visited Brett a few years ago in Karon. He was staying in a bungalow. We also spent some time in Kata Beach and Patong.
”He has moved from that place, but still lives in a similar situation in another bungalow. We have searched through all of his belongings and have not found an address for him.
”He told us on November 25 that he had turned off his phone and internet service, as he does every year before he leaves Thailand. That was the last contact that we had with him.”
The Beans have established that Brett did not catch any of the flights on which he was booked.
Phuket resident and animal lover Clare Bickerton believes she saw Brett on Saturday, passing on his motorcycle in Karon.
Lynne Bean says: ”Clare knows my Brett as he spoke of her often.” Brett works as a skiing instructor when in the US.
Coincidentally, a new local police station opens in Karon tomorrow – one of two new stations on Phuket – providing officers with an urgent assignment.
Mr Bean described his son as slender, about 77 kilograms, and about 2 meters tall with “very short hair or bald”. Brett also has a large tattoo on the inside of his forearm.
The last contact Mr Bean had with his son was on November 25, when he received an email saying that Brett had had lunch with friends.
