Foreigner Found Dead Hanging From a Tree in Central Thailand
CHON BURI – Police in Pattaya’s Bang Lamung district have reported that a foreign man was found hung from a tree in a forested area of Soi Phra Tamnak 6 Monday evening.
A Thai man (Name Withheld) found the body when he stopped his vehicle in Soi Phra Tamnak 6 and walked to the roadside to urinate when came across the gruesome discovery and immediately called the police.
The man had a nylon rope was tied around his neck and the other end was fastened to a branch about three meters above the ground.
Upon arival police and rescue workers found the man was (Caucasian) 180-185 centimeters tall and 35-40 years of age, wearing a white T-shirt with black stripes and white shorts.
Police said it appeared he had been dead for at least two days.
Police said there were no signs of physical assault on the body, that rested with its knees on the ground.
Police had yet to identify the dead man or determine the cause of death. The body was sent to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, in Phuket a Russian allegedly fell to her death after falling from the fourth floor of a hotel in Patong on Tuesday morning.
Patong police were notified of the incident at the hotel on Ratchapatanusorn Road at 2.15am.
The woman was identified by police as 27-year-old Elena Kusovnikova, a Russian national.
Police say there were no signs of a struggle or fight in the room.
At this stage, they believe the Russian fell from the fourth floor after getting drunk and going outside to smoke a cigarette.
The Russian Consulate in Phuket has been notified.
