Officials in Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province are quickly cleaning up the areas recently affected by flooding.

The Mae Sai municipality and related government units are providing relief operations to assist local residences, stores and restaurants devastated by the flooding.

At the moment water has receded to a normal level allowing locals and officials to begin clearing away mud and rocks that have scattered all over the roads.

Restaurants and stores expected they would be able to resume services as usual very soon, if no more flooding occurs.

Meanwhile, The National Disaster Warning Center has warned people in the North to brace for more run-offs, flash floods and mudslides, as rains will likely continue to buffet the region in the next couple of days.

According to the center, the affected provinces include Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Nan, Phayao, Krabi, and Suratthani. It has advised residents in those areas to exercise extreme caution, while closely monitoring official weather reports.
