Chiangrai Times –Police have arrested a Kacharin Duvel who allegedly conspired with her mother and half-brother in the murder of her estranged South African husband in Keang Doi district of Saraburi province.

Oswald Heinrich Duvel

Kacharin Duvel and her half-brother Surasith Pacchathepmonkol are charged with the murder of Oswald  Heinrich Duvel, 50, a South African national reported to have been working as manager of a design company.

Police found Duvel’s naked body on the roadside on Sept 30. He had been shot through the mouth.  Initially, Mrs Kacharin and her family denied knowing anything about the murder, police said.

Police learned that the couple were fighting in court for the custody of their three-year-old child.

The victim’s car was found abandoned on the roadside and investigators then found evidence  linking his wife and her brother to the murder.

They were questioned again, and later confessed to the murder, according to police.

Police said Mrs Kacharin admitted she lured Duvel  to his death, offering him the chance to see his son.

Her half-brother was the shooter, police said. Mrs Kacharin had planned the murder with her mother and half-brother.

The accused widow told police that she was tricked into marriage so that her husband could work in Thailand. They later split up, but as their son grew up Duvel said he wanted custody of the child.

She did not want to lose custody, so she planned the murder, according to police.

Mrs Kacharin and her half-brother Surasith have been charged with premeditated murder, while her mother will become a state witness, police said.
