PHILIPPINES – Benjamin Holst the 30-year-old German who was deported from Thailand after he was found drinking and partying whilst begging for money on Bangkok and Pattaya streets is now chancing his luck in the neighbouring Philippines.

Benjamin Holst announced his return to the region on his Facebook page last week, saying he was now in Angeles City in the Philppines.

Mr Holst, who suffers from macrodystrophia lipomatosa, a rare form of localised gigantism, was previously last seen in Denmark in November after Thai authorities deported him.

Benjamin Holse, claimed his passport and cash were stolen during his trip to Thailand. He attracted much sympathy, partly because he has excessively swollen leg due to a congenital condition.

A German foundation later provided him with a hotel room while  he waited for a new passport, he then took a taxi to Sin City Pattaya where a taxi motorcyclists claimed that Holse showed off more than Bt40,000 when they recognised him.

“He also gave us money, telling us to get him some beer and some girls for him to sleep with,” one of the taxi motorcyclists said on condition of anonymity. Holse was detained by Thai Authorities and later deported.
