CHIANG RAI – A 27-year-old Thai man has been apprehended on drug smuggling charges, after a spirited chase by Chiang Rai police. According to police authorities, the suspects 400,000 meth pills were being smuggled into Muang District, Chiang Rai. Along with the drugs, the police confiscated a cellphone, a motorcycle, and a truck that was being used to deliver the drugs.

The accused man confessed that the drugs belonged to a well-known drug network in the north and that he had picked up the drugs from a Hmong man.

Meanwhile another drug arrest took place in Chiang Mai Province where four kilos of crystal meth, also known as “ya-ice”, were confiscated, while in the possession of a 27-year-old woman traveling back from Hong Kong.

According to Chiang Mai’s Customs Office, the drugs were neatly wrapped and hidden in two baby strollers. The police believe that the woman had connections with an Indonesian man who was earlier arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport when discovered smuggling 33 kilograms of a similar drug.- Read more here
