Chiang Rai Buddhist Groups Gicks Off
CHIANG RAI – Eight persons attended the first meeting of the Chiang Rai Buddhist group in Klang Wian temple on Sunday, March 26 from 12 pm to 1.30 pm. The group will be meeting every Sunday at the temple at the same time from now on.
“Thanks to all who attended,” said Tony MacGregor, one of the organizers of the group. “And thanks to Klang Wian temple for giving us the space. There’s definitely a lot of interest in Buddhism amongst foreigners here, and many tourists are keen to learn about Buddhism while they’re in Thailand so we expect attendance to grow.”
He said the group is for anyone interested in practicing and learning about Buddhism. “We expect to have English-speaking Thai monks giving talks on a variety of subjects every week,” he said.
He added that the Sunday afternoon sessions are a great place to ask questions about Buddhism and try out meditation. There is a 10-minute sitting meditation and a 10-minute walking meditation, which are a great opportunity for those interested to try out meditation,” he said.
