CHIANG MAI– Pol Maj Gen Bundit Tungkhaseranee, Commander of the Immigration Division 5 in Chiang Mai, told reporters that Immigration is hunting for a presumed Chinese tourist who kicked a bell at the revered Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, vowing to ban him from Thailand if he doesn’t behave.

Pol Maj Gen Bundit Tungkhaseranee, said that immigration and local police are looking for witnesses and examining surveillance-camera footage to identify the man who was videoed kicking the bell at the temple.

Police also were enquiring with Chinese guides and travel agents and were checking Chinese tourists who had arrived through the Chiang Saen border checkpoint in Chiang Rai Province to find the man, the commander said.

All concerned authorities are hurriedly looking for the man, will introduce him to the public and will inform him of Thai culture and manners. If he is found and refuses to listen, he will be blacklisted from re-entering the country, Pol Maj Gen Bundit said.
