California Babysitter Faces Historic 700-Year Sentence for Serial Child Sexual Assault

(CTN News) – On Friday, a California man convicted of sexually assaulting sixteen boys who were left in his care over the previous decade received a sentence of almost 700 years in jail. The victims were adolescents who had been babysat by the guy for multiple years in Southern California.

According to a statement from Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski, 34, of Costa Mesa, was found guilty moments ago on charges of molesting over a dozen boys ranging in age from 2 to 12, as well as showing child pornography to another boy with the intent to rape him.

According to the authorities, Zakrzewski was a “master manipulator” who secretly recorded his sexual interactions with minors from 2014 to 2019 and taught them how to lie to their parents about them.

After a string of crimes, Zakrzewski was finally apprehended by the Laguna Beach police on May 17, 2019, as he disembarked from an international flight.

Two counts of oral copulation with a youngster under ten, three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under fourteen, and one count of possessing child pornography were among the five crimes originally filed against Zakrzewski.

Additional victims were located through Zakrzewski’s homemade recordings and public tips to detectives, leading to an increase in the number of charges to 34. These accusations include 27 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a juvenile under the age of 14.

Following his conviction on all thirty-four counts, the judge imposed a heavy sentence of seven hundred and fifty-five years in prison plus two years and eight months.

Prior to being informed of his fate, Zakrzewski sat through the impact statements read aloud by his victims’ families in court. He then read his own statement, although he still refused to apologize for his crimes.

The district attorney’s office reports that he made the following statement: “I prided myself on bringing smiles to your children and all the good times we shared were 100% genuine.”

Zakrzewski advertised his babysitting services online, posing as a “manny” and claiming to be “the original Sitter Buddy” who could help out with overnights, vacations, and even mentoring or “big brother” relationships.
