Bundesliga Title For Bayern Munich? Last Time They Didn't Win?

(CTN News) – Several of Europe’s top Bundesliga football leagues are nearing the end of their regular seasons this weekend. This means that the title winners are already known ahead of final matchdays in many leagues.

I believe there is a good chance that Manchester City will win the Premier League for a record 11th time, Barcelona will win the La Liga, Napoli will win Serie A and it is likely that Paris Saint-Germain will win Ligue 1 for a record 11th time as well.

In stark contrast, there is only one title race left in the Bundesliga, and the final day will determine whether Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich sit atop the German top flight at the end of the season.

Following Bayern Bayern’s 3-1 victory over Dortmund in last year’s The Classic, it marked the tenth year in a row in which Bayern have won the Bundesliga title.

In any of Europe’s top five leagues, no club has previously been able to achieve the feat of winning 10 consecutive titles. The club did this with six different managers at the helm during that time period.

As a result, Juventus have broken their previous record of holding nine Serie A titles consecutively from 2012 to 2020, which was set by Juventus between these two dates.

There has never been a time when Bayern did not win the Bundesliga title since 2011, when then manager Jurgen Klopp guided Dortmund as the champions of Germany during the 2011-12 season.

In the Bundesliga, Dortmund led the table with 81 points (25-6-3) and Bayern came in second place with 73 points (23-4-7).

Even though the pressure is immense ahead of a drama-filled final day of the season, the parameters that Bayern must meet in order to win the title are simple and straightforward.

To gain a mathematical chance of overtaking Dortmund, FC Cologne needs a Bundesliga victory on Saturday. If they fail to score over FC Mainz, the title will remain in Munich for the 11th consecutive season.

There is no doubt that a Bayern win, together with a Dortumand defeat or a draw, will be the key for Tomas Tuchel’s squad this weekend. This will be the first time in a decade that the title will be changed hands as a result of Dortmund winning.
