British Honorary Consular Neal Bambridge Killed in Roads Accident on Koh Samui

SURAT THANIÂ – Thai Authorities have reported that the Honorary British Consular Agent for Koh Phangan, British National Neal Bambridge was killed when he was hit by a speeding truck, on the Island of Koh Samui.
On Friday night Mr Bambridge was hit by a speeding truck near the One Way Pub in Lamai. The driver of the truck ploughed into two rental cars across the road after hitting him, the Samui Times reported.
Neal had been living in on the Island with his family for the past three years and had been in Thailand for 12 years he was also the Honorary British Consul for nearby Ko Phangan.
Islanders and friends described him as a “die hard Harley Davidson fan, who loved his stout and British Food’. He leaves his wife Ratchi and son Jorge.
His wife, Ratchi, with whom he had a son, Jorge, posted on Facebook: “I’m very proud of him, and so many people love him. I miss you like crazy.â€
Neal’s brother, Richard Bambridge, also paid tribute to him, writing: “To say you lived life to the full is an understatement.
“Unique and individual, you packed more in to your 50 years than most people ever would in double that.
“Together now with Dad once again. Ride in to the eternal sunset mate. Love you Bro. Sleep tight. xxxxxxxxxxxx.â€
Neal was an avid motorbike fan, and members of South East Asia’s biking enthusiast groups have also paid tribute to him.
Well known locally, his role as British Consul meant he worked as a link between the UK authorities and Brits who ran into trouble on the island.
