Boycott Of TikTok In Saudi Arabia Intensifies.

(CTN News) – The campaign to boycott TikTok in Saudi Arabia has gained more traction recently due to accusations of unfair censorship and banning of Saudi accounts that express positive opinions about the Kingdom.

This movement has gained momentum as concerns about TikTok’s alleged manipulation of algorithms and biased treatment persist, causing anger among Saudi users of the platform.

In response to these allegations, many users have sought out alternative social media platforms to voice their opposition to TikTok’s alleged suppression of pro-Saudi content. The hashtag #BoycottTiktok has been trending, accompanied by posts urging Saudis to uninstall the app.

@ayedarini, a user of X, has called on others to refrain from using the app, alleging that the platform is actively waging a “war against us.”

The user further stated, “It has become evident that the app is specifically targeting Saudi accounts and promoting content that goes against them and their country. It is now our duty as Saudis to boycott it.”

In a recent post by @X_Tiktok_, a dedicated profile advocating for the ban of TikTok in Saudi Arabia, strong disapproval was expressed towards the platform’s “unacceptable” and “abusive” behavior. The post vowed to persist in its campaign against TikTok.

The post emphasized that prejudiced behavior persists, as it persists in implementing regulations that breach the content of Saudi users, particularly those that pertain to our country.

Prominent figures in social media and famous individuals have thrown their weight behind the movement, utilizing their large number of followers to amplify the message and inspire others to participate in the boycott. The impact of the boycott has also been felt in the Saudi private sector.

According to a source with knowledge of the matter, the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported in November that the second division of professional football in Saudi Arabia had severed ties with TikTok. This decision was reportedly made in response to the platform’s alleged actions against Saudi content.
