PHUKET – The airport in Phuket was put on alert after it received a bomb threat on an Air Asia flight from Don Mueang to Phuket Tuesday.

The threat was made on Flight FD 3003 which took off from Don Mueang airport at 10.55 a.m. and was scheduled to land at Phuket airport at 12.15 p.m,

Airport of Thailand president Mekin Petplai was alerted of the bomb threat  and immediately rushed to he airport to investigate.

The threat was made on Air Asia’s  Airbus 330-200 plane with 167 passengers and four crew members and  two pilots which has taken off at 10.55 a.m.

The plane landed safely at Phuket airport at 12.15 p.m.

Upon landing at Phuket airport,  the plane was ordered to taxi to the isolated parking area for security check.

Nothing unusual was found when explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and security authorities inspected the plane and its cargo.

The AoT president said all passengers and crew members have given good cooperation with the authorities during the check as AoT and security officials implemented  checks strictly under the CAO standards.

The plane was allowed to return to Don Mueang airport from Phuket at 3.08 p.m. and landed at Don Mueang at 4.28 p.m.

He said that the bomb threat was made through a phone call and was  a hoax.

He said AoT officials have notified the police to investigate and find the trouble maker  for punishment.
