Australian Michael Hammil Who’s Walking 900 kms to Pay Tribute to Thai King Crrives in Chumphon
Michael Hammil embarked on a 663-kilometer “walk for the king” yesterday from Koh Samui to Bangkok.
The 46-year old tourist said that he would be able to arrive in Bangkok either November 3 or 4, walking an average of 50 kilometres a day covering a total distance of 900 kilometres from Koh Samui.
Mr Hammil earlier told local reporters in Koh Samui that he had spent three months in Thailand, mostly in Koh Samui. After learning about the passing of HM the King, he said he understood the sorrow of the Thai people for having lost their beloved King.
To share the sentiments of the Thai people, he said he would walk to Bangkok from Koh Samui in order to pay respect to the late King, after which he would fly back to his hometown in Australia.
