Australian Falls from 6th Floor Balcony in Surin Province

45-year-old Australian man abandoned by his Thai girlfriend leaped from the 6th floor of a Surin hotel

 

SURIN – Anthony Scarrabelotti an Australian apparently abandoned by his Thai girlfriend has leaped from the 6th floor of a Surin hotel. Witnesses said he had been looking for her at the hotel but couldn’t find her, a maid later saw the man arguing loudly on his cellphone he then he flung it away and leaped off the balcony.

The incident occurred at the Pechkasem hotel, Jitbamroon road, Tambon Nai Meuang, Amphur Meuang, Surin province.

Around 11am Surin police received  a report of a foreigner jumping from the 6th floor of a hotel, landing beside the restaurant near the swimming pool.

Rushing to inspect the scene were Pol. Lt. Col. Prakij Leuangvilai, Deputy Superintendent; and Pol. Capt. Saenghiran Kaewdee; along with the officers of Naranethorn Surin center and the Surin volunteer rescuers.

The incident occurred at the Pechkasem hotel, Jitbamroon road, Tambon Nai Meuang, Amphur Meuang, Surin province.

At the scene, police found the severely injured body of Anthony Scarrabelotti on the concrete surface. There was a big wound to his head that was bleeding heavily, and his left leg was broken. Rescue officers performed emergency first aid and rushed him to Surin Center hospital.

Officers inspecting the scene saw a big hole in the roof of the restaurant near the swimming pool that was made by the falling body. The officers went to inspect the 6th floor balcony and found the man’s shoes, wallet and a many cigarette butts smoked by the victim.

Police questioned the hotel maid she told police Mr. Anthony was not a guest at the hotel, but he was knocking on the door of every room on the 6th floor, looking for his Thai girlfriend but he could not find her.

The maid said she saw Mr. Anthony smoke cigarettes on the balcony of the 6th floor, talking on his cellphone and arguing loudly with someone. Suddenly Mr. Anthony angrily threw away his cellphone, then he jumped off the balcony before the maid could try to stop him.

The officers looked for the victim’s phone, and found that it had fallen on the flume on the roof of the restaurant near the swimming pool. They discovered the phone number that Mr. Anthony had dialed but no one answered.

The officers will rush to find the Thai girlfriend of Mr. Anthony to investigate, in order to find the cause that made him decide to jump from the 6thfloor of the hotel to commit suicide.

Mr. Anthony later died in hospital, doctor and nurses tried to keep him alive, but he had severe wounds and his lung was pierced by a broken bone, which made him lose a lot of blood.
